Frequently Asked Questions

Yes you do. In 2019 Congress changed the rules on National Park entrance fees for all National Parks. If you or anyone in your group has the America the Beautiful Pass, Senior Pass, Access Pass, Military Pass or the Everglades Park Pass you are already covered for entrance into the Park. Below are two sites for more info. These should be purchased the day of your trip.

No. We depend a lot on wild animals and on the weather to cooperate with us. We work very hard to get you on the fish. However, there are some factors that are just beyond our control. We do try to make sure that we only take you fishing when the conditions are right for success but on rare occasion, things just don’t work out — despite our best efforts. Rarely do we get skunked and not catch fish, but sometimes we just don’t catch that one certain fish that you wanted.
No. However, there are many different ways to take care of your bathroom needs. You should not worry about this. We will make sure you are taken care of.

Backcountry Fishing Additional Information

Florida Keys Fishing – Bamboo Charters

Backcountry 4 Hour Charter

We will travel 15 to 40 minutes across Florida Bay into the Everglades National Park. Here in 2-8 feet of water we will catch Speckled Sea Trout, Mangrove Snapper, Jack Crevalle, Barracuda and several species of sharks. Redfish and Snook can be caught on this trip depending on water temps and the time of the year. During the ride to the Backcountry and back to our marina we will be see the various wading and shore birds that call the Everglades home. We also can spot pods of Dolphin that often approach the boat and will ride our wake very close to the boat. The ride is very enjoyable and the sheltered shallow waters of the Bay rarely get rough. Many clients tell us that the ride is an amazing part of the charter. We will fish with a mix of live baits and artificial baits all provided in the cost of the charter. The rod and reel combos we use are well maintained spinning outfits. All of the captains will be happy to teach anyone aboard how to properly cast, retrieve and hook up fish. We bait hooks and take your catch of your hook for you as well. This style of fishing is very much like freshwater fishing in that we will be doing a lot of casting and retrieving similar to Bass fishing. However we will catch fish that will pull more drag and fight harder than any Bass that you’ve ever hooked! We will fish in channels, basins, on shallow flats and around mangrove shorelines. Our boats have a Minnkota trolling motor for working shorelines and in 1-2 feet of water along the flats. We don’t troll lures, Backcountry fishing is very active and we will be doing a lot of casting. The captains have a long standing policy of catch and release only for all Snook and Redfish that are caught year round. We are happy to keep legal size Sea Trout, Snapper, Tripletail and Spanish Mackerel for you to enjoy for a meal and we will happily filet and package your catch for you at the dock.

Backcountry 6-Hour Charter

Our 6 hour Backcountry Charter is the same as our 4 hour charter but we can explore further into the Everglades and we have a much better chance of getting into bigger and more Snook and Redfish as well as we can find small Tarpon in the Summer until the first of November here on some trips. We got to spend more time in the backcountry of the Everglades on this trip which lets us get on more fish and explore more of this amazing National Park.

Backcountry 8-Hour Charter

The 8 Hour Backcountry Charter is there Big Adventure! This trip opens up the ability to run deep into Florida Bay and explore several different areas. We can fish the extreme reaches of the Everglades along the beaches of East & Middle Cape Sable on up to Big Sable and Lake Ingram. This area is only reached by boat, there are no roads on the mainland and this is the last of the true wilderness of the entire State of Florida. The wildlife is amazing! Bald Eagles, Osprey, White Pelicans can be seen up close and the wading bird life we see is stunning as well. We will catch Trout, Redfish, Snook, Tarpon, Tripletail and Spanish Mackerel. Shark fishing out in these waters is crazy good! The Bull, Lemon, Tiger, Blacktip and Hammerhead sharks can be everywhere at times out in the deep backcountry. This part of the Everglades is pure wilderness and totally primitive, the last true Dinosaurs are found out here, true Saltwater Crocodiles will be basking on the beaches and along mud banks in Lake Ingram. You can even hook Sawfish that can reach 20 plus feet in length! Photographers love the scenery and the chance to photograph the wildlife in this pristine environment.

Our Boats

Florida Keys Fishing – Bamboo Charters

Go Fish 1 & Go Fish 2

These are our identical twins, built by Contender Boats in Miami 45 minutes from our dock. They’ve been building boats for over 35 years in South Florida and this 25 foot Bay boat is the best in the 25 foot and under class. We can easily accommodate up to 6 passengers and the Captain with comfortable seating for everyone. There is a T-top for shade, plenty of deck space, forward & rear casting platforms for fishing. The forward wrap around padded seating area is not found on any other bay boat on the market. Comfort, fishability, dry ride and speed all combine to make this bay boat the best bay boat we’ve ever run. Capt. Matt was the first to run bay boats for charter in the Keys and this is by far his favorite design on the market. You will agree after a few minutes aboard. Both Contenders are powered by a Yamaha Outboards 4-stroke 300 horsepower V-6.

Go Fish 3

This boat is a Ranger 22 that is perfect for up to 4 passengers and Captain. This smaller boat is very comfortable and very dry running. It has been a work horse for us for 5 years and a proven fishing machine. It’s not fancy like our Contenders and doesn’t have a T-top for shade so its best suited for 4 & 6 hour trips.

All boats have Garmin GPS/Fishfinders, VHF Radio, Stereo, Minnkota Trolling motor, Coolers and all required USCG safety gear.

Included:
  • Fishing License
  • Fishing Rods & Tackle
