Florida Keys Fishing - Bamboo Charters
The excitement of flats fishing in Florida is centered around targeting three sought-after shallow water game fish: Redfish, Snook, and Speckled Sea Trout. The shallow flats in the Florida Keys are highlighted as offering some of the best opportunities to catch these fish throughout the year. The characteristics of each species are briefly mentioned, with Snook known for drag-screaming runs, Redfish for their bulldog-like fighting style, and Trout being plentiful.
The backcountry, defined as the waters of Florida Bay, is emphasized as a rich fishing ground that includes the Everglades National Park. The variety of fish available in this shallow water fishery is mentioned, including Redfish, Sea Trout, Snook, Sharks, Mangrove Snapper, and other hard-fighting species. Overall, the piece encourages anglers of all skill levels to embark on a Florida Keys adventure to experience the thrill of catching these iconic game fish.
Florida Keys shark fishing is an exhilarating and up-close experience. Anglers use light tackle ranging from 10 to 30-pound line class gear, depending on the size of the sharks they want to target. The fishing may involve sight fishing for sharks in knee-deep flats with clear water, encountering species like Bonnet heads, Lemons, and formidable 200-pound-plus Bulls. Drifting fresh caught ladyfish and jacks in deeper basins and channels is mentioned for catching larger sharks.
Emphasizing stand-up fishing without fighting chairs, the text highlights the intense nature of the experience where anglers face off against Bulls, Lemons, Blacktips, and Spinners. The use of big bait is recommended for targeting big sharks. The fishing is described as a toe-to-toe challenge, requiring anglers to bring their “big boy pants” for this adventure. The piece concludes by mentioning that after the shark fishing excitement, anglers can transition to a more relaxed pursuit, looking for snook, reds, and sea trout in the same backcountry waters.
